SJ#2203: "Sports & Society"

Midget Racing
Midget Racing in Kansas

In this program we'll explore the birth of basketball and the role of Dr. James Naismith; see what's happening with the Sunflower State Games as they celebrate their 20th anniversary; and learn how two siblings enjoy the sport of quarter midget racing in our plains people segment.

KTWU/Channel 11, public television serving eastern Kansas and northwest Missouri, premieres a new season of Sunflower Journeys each year. The program airs statewide on Kansas public television stations. Following a magazine-style format, Sunflower Journeys serves as a unique vehicle for viewers to learn about and appreciate the diverse culture, heritage and history of Kansas.

The production of the 2009 season of Sunflower Journeys has been made possible with support from the Kansas Humanities Council, Footprints of Lawrence, the Blanche Bryden Foundation, the Raymond C. and Marguerite Gibson Foundation, and Kansas Travel & Tourism, Hallmark Cards The Friends of KTWU
